Countdown+ for Iphone

I've have recently been testing countdown+ for Iphone which is, as the name alludes to, a countdown to event timer or countdown from event timer. You may at this point think, why do I need an event timer app when I have a calendar on my Iphone already? Well firstly, your Iphone calendar is very limited in functionality and will show you the date and time you have entered the info for and allow you to set 2 reminders. That's it. Countdown+ will show you the event, tell you how long until or since the event, in years, months, weeks, days format, offer you a choice of 6 notifications ranging from day of event up to 1 month before to start bugging you (you can have all 6 reminders if you like, especially if it's your other half's birthday as you don't want to forget that). So it is immediately more useful for reminding you about certain events.
You can then add lots of details to categorise the event by type of event i.e birthday, tag the event i.e family, add a picture to the event either from one of the 40 preset event icons or pick a picture from your photo library or take your own with the camera. If it is an birthday, you might want to put in the persons pic who's birthday it is and set it to repeat the event each year. There are various repeat options but as yet the app doesn't include a completely customer repeat option. I've been in contact with the Devs and they plan to add this functionality in on the near future updates. One of the nice points with birthdays or yearly events is the shows years button that becomes available. If, for example, you set it at the persons date of birth, you then get the age displayed in front of the time until event details. I.e 31 in 3 months, 2 weeks and 5 days. Handy for remembering your friend of family relatives age when buying them a card eh.
I've tested the push reminders and as with all Iphone apps that use this type of service they work very well, currently giving the standard push sound and popup box on screen.
I currently have all of Light Pillar's apps and this as with their others has been designed to a very high standard. The UI is clean and crisp on the retina display, well thought out and has definitely been created with plenty of TLC. As with all Light Pillar apps, the customer service when you do have a question or problem is first class, normally getting a reply to your email within 24hrs answering your questions which is a rare quality from most app developers so certainly goes a long way in my book.
To summarise, if you are looking for an time until/time since event timer, this app definitely gets my recommendation.
